How do I find my current bra size?Updated a year ago
If you are currently pregnant, you can measure yourself at any time. If you are early or late postpartum, please measure yourself 1-2 hours after emptying your breasts - when the breast tissue is neither overly firm or swollen from engorgement, nor overly soft directly after being emptied. Wearing a lightly supportive, non-padded bra, follow the below steps to find your measurements:
Step #1 - Band Measurement technically known as the underbust measurement
Using a soft measuring tape, wrap it around the top of your ribcage, directly below your breast tissue. Make sure the tape measure is flat around your body and parallel to the floor.
Breath normally, ensuring not to pull the tape too tightly.
Round the measurement up to the nearest half inch.
For example, if your measurement is 31 ¼”, round to 31 ½”
Determine Band Size:
Using the chart below, align the body circumference measurement to the corresponding bra band size. In our example, the 31 ½” band measurement equates to a 34 bra band size
Step #2 - Cup Measurement technically known as the bust measurement
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your breast tissue. Make sure the tape measure is flat around your body and parallel to the floor.
Be sure not to compress the breast tissue when measuring.
Round the measurement up to the nearest whole inch.
For example, if your measurement is 37 ½”, round to 38”
Determine Cup Size:
A) Take the cup measurement and subtract from it the bra band size
B) Count 1 alpha cup size for each number remaining
1” | 2” | 3” | 4” | 5” | 6” |
A | B | C | D | DD (E) | DDD (F) |
In our example, we will subtract 38 from the 34 band measurement, which equals 4. We then count 4 letters into the alphabet, which results in the letter D. The correct bra size in our example is a 34D.
